If you have any questions regarding the application of a new airport badge or the renewal of an expired badge? Or…
Airport badge
1. How do I apply for an airport badge or how do I renew my badge?
You need the following documents to apply for/renew your airport pass:
• A fully digitally completed application form, signed in pen by the signature authorized employer, printed on both sides
• A declaration of no objection (VGB)
• A valid passport or identity card
• Your airport pass, if you are going to renew your pass.
You can request the VGB via the AIVD website, via the form ‘Providing personal data for Safety Investigation B-Civil Aviation’. Print out the completed form, sign it with a pen and hand it to your employer together with a copy of your passport (and a copy of the passport of your partner, if applicable). Your employer is responsible for completing the ‘Civil Aviation Safety Screening Registration’ and sending the complete application. You will receive the VGB by post. Your employer will receive a copy.
Make sure you reapply for a VGB no later than 8 weeks before the end date of your pass if you are going to renew your pass.
Do you live abroad, have you lived abroad or do you not have Dutch nationality? Make sure you submit the application well in advance. When extending a pass, we recommend submitting the VGB application 4 months in advance, as this security screening takes more time.
2. When do I have to return my airport badge?
• In case of change of employer or termination of employment
• If a pass extension is no longer necessary, then no later than within 14 days after the end date of the pass
3. How can I return my airport badge?
You can send the airport badge to the address below. After receiving your badge, your employer will receive a confirmation by email.
Maastricht Aachen Airport
Attn. Pass office
PO Box 1
6199 ZG Maastricht Airport
4. Where is the Maastricht Aachen airport badge office located?
The Pass Office is located on the first floor of the passenger terminal. You can park your car at P1, located to the left of the GR8 Hotel.
5. How do I make an appointment to receive or renew an airport badge?
Please visit our website and follow the step by step plan.
6. How can I change or cancel my appointment?
You can easily do this online via the appointment confirmation that you received by email.
Please note: appointments must be canceled at least 24 hours before the start. Fees will be charged for appointments that are not canceled or not canceled within 24 hours before the start.
7. What will happen if I don’t use my airport badge frequently?
An airport pass is automatically blocked if the pass is inactive for 12 months. To prevent this, you have to present your badge to a card reader at least once every 6 months. For example, at one of the outside doors at the side entrance. You must keep track of the use of your airport pass for yourself.
8. My employer is not registered at Maastricht Aachen Airport can I still apply for a badge?
You cannot apply for an airport pass. The company must first be registered. For more information, see www.maa.nl/passenbureau or FAQ-employer.
9. Where do I find all the study materials for the airport badge and the driving qualifications?
You will receive the study materials in the confirmation email after you have made an appointment online.
10. How long will an appointment for a new airport badge or renewal take?
For a new airport pass including driving privileges, you must take into account an appointment time of approximately 90 minutes.
11. My employment has been terminated, my employer changed, the badge has expired what now?
The badge is owned by Maastricht Aachen Airport. For the above situations, your employee must return the airport pass within 14 days.
Please note: if the pass is not returned or is returned too late, a fine will be charged.
12. I changed employer but still work at Maastricht Aachen Airport for a different employer do I have to apply for a new security screening?
If you change jobs, you will have to undergo another security screening.
According to the Safety Investigations Act (WVO), the VGB is issued for the position you perform for a specific employer. When changing employers, a new VGB is therefore required and therefore a new investigation, even if a previous safety investigation has only recently been completed.
13. I want to apply for an airport badge but my certificate of no objection is older than 6 months.
The VGB no longer has a redemption period, the validity of the VGB is a maximum of 5 years after issue.

Report this immediately. During working days between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. via 043-3589837. Outside these times or if not heard via Airport Authority: 043-3589750. Has your pass been stolen? Then you must file a report. You can easily report it digitally via www.politie.nl or by post from the Royal Military Police. Declaration of no objection
1. What is a declaration of no objection?
A declaration of no objection (VGB) is a declaration that is issued after a security investigation by the Minister of the Interior, on behalf of the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD), to a person who qualifies for a confidential position. A safety investigation is more in-depth than, for example, an investigation for a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). A security investigation is much broader.
The AIVD carries out a security investigation after a request from the (future) employer. If the result is positive, the VGB is issued.
The VGB is valid as long as the person works in the same confidential position or job group for which the VGB was issued. A renewed examination must take place after 5 years.
2. Which documents does my employee need to request a declaration of no objection for civil aviation?
A ‘Civil Aviation Safety Investigation Statement’ has to be completed and signed by the employee, via the website of the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD). A ‘Registration for Civil Aviation Safety Investigation’ to be completed and signed by the employer via the website of the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD). An easily readable copy of a valid ID of the employee and his/her partner, if any. Are all documents fully completed, printed and signed in pen? Have you included a clearly legible copy of a valid ID of the employee and his/her partner, if any? The employer is then responsible for sending the complete package to the address below:
Maastricht Aachen Airport
ATTENTION Pass office
PO Box 1
6199 ZG Maastricht Airport
3. How long does it take for the investigation to be completed?
The investigation has a legal duration of 8 weeks. If information from third parties is required for a security investigation, for example if the employee has stayed abroad for a longer period of time prior to his/her application, it is possible that the investigation will take longer than 8 weeks.
4. When will the declaration of no objection be refused?
Grounds for refusal can be:
Negative information is known (usually judicial antecedents or information from the AIVD’s own system).
• Insufficient data is known (for example after a stay abroad)
• Personal behavior and circumstances.
5. How long is the declaration of no objection for civil aviation valid?
As long as the employee works in the same confidential position and for the same employer and the VGB has not been withdrawn, the VGB remains valid. Although a VGB has no end date, European regulations regarding civil aviation require new screening every 5 years.
